Professor Sara L. Maurer works on British and Irish literature of the nineteenth century. She has published articles on Maria Edgeworth's Irish novels, the politics of the wife in Anthony Trollope's serial fiction, and the rhetoric of English common law in colonial administration. She is currently completing a book-length project exploring narratives of ownership and the imagination of territory in England and Ireland.
